My boy is off on the next leg of his journey of faith. I told him and his brother and sisters that the greatest human adventure possible on the face of the planet is following Jesus...Aaron now is a follower in a new and more revolutionary manner. Here's the story...he is a graduate of BMW's tech training. He works a year as a master technician at an Orange County BMW dealer. He's pulling down "stupid cash" and basically floating in his life. He's happy...but not really. A few months ago, he blogs that he is not as content in his life as he expected to be...he's making money, growing, etc...but something is telling him that he has not challenged nor is he using some of the gifts and passions that the Holy Spirit placed in his life. He blogs that maybe he should give it all up and go do an internship in ministry. Unfortunately for him, I read that blog...sent it to some of my friends in ministry and NOW six months later, Aaron is off. He's taking a two week leadership training trip with NexLead in Europe...coming home to lead the TEAM conference with me for the Youth Leadership Institute (www.yliapu.org) and then he is leaving for a year's internship in Thunder Bay, Ontario Canada @ Redwood Church with my buddy, Nate Barnes (the Christian Metrosexual, sorry Nate, had to write that!). You're talking Canada dude...far cry from the shores of the beach in SoCal. Seriously, this is a step in his life that he and I would have never anticipated a year ago. I'm proud of him...excited for him... and anticipating changes in his life that he can't even imagine are going to fully occur. See what happens when you yield to following Jesus? Wouldn't it be incredible if every follower could pick up and go when the Spirit says "go"? Pray for him...but more than that, thank the Lord for giving you and me (and Aaron) an opportunity to participate in not only the greatest adventure on the planet (following the Rabbi, Jesus) but also for giving us a taste of His creative power.
