Yeah, this will be a shameless plug. I just returned from another conference where marketing is the name of the game. It seemed like every speaker and teacher had a product and every product had its place in the conference atmosphere. I guess it is just the name of the game now...but it still bothers me. When can we do ministry and live the life of the Kingdom without having to worry about commercials and consumerism? Maybe some people that I am reading (John Kavanaugh being one, Following Christ in a Consumerist Society) are right? We are too entrenched in our own idolatry, the idolatry of consumerism, to have a clear idea about how to live, represent or even communicate Kingdom realities. Oh well...enough of that...now, on to my own advertisement. TEAM conferenc 05 is around the corner! This year's conference theme, Revolution. Is that enough?
