The call to prayer was answered...the troops have been assembled for the battle...the enemy has been identified...we know about the enemies apparent weaknesses and strengths...we've heard the stories...we know of the reputation of the grip of fear that something like cancer brings into the lives of people we love. Even so, this is the DAY! This next day is something God wants us to take a hold of and live to the fullest. We are all a part of a never-ending story of love, faithfulness and promise. And even through the tears, frustrations and battles of life, we know that the story will go on and we know that the God who brought the story into existence loves each of us enough to invite us to join Him in living it for the endless days to come. Yet, for now, we have today! This is the day that we didn't create...we didn't cause the sun to rise...we didn't create the oxygen that is necessary for our lives...we didn't make the earth's bounty that will feed us, cloth us and house us throughout the day. God gives us this day as a gift. I don't know about you..but even the most ridiculous of gifts that I have received (and I have received a few), I enjoy. We have today! Wow!
Many of you know that the battle we are facing has to do with my granddaughter Abby. God is already at work bringing about fresh perspectives, renewed relationships and the life-giving presence of community into each of my family's life in spades. All I pray for today is that each of us would know of God's miraculous movement in our lives in spite of how seemingly difficult, depressing or desperate our situationa are in life. The cool thing about just thinking about TODAY is that no matter how you may be feeling or what may be happening in your life, it is only happening today and this day is God's! Let's see what He can do with it. Will your focus be on Him...or on the situation? Your focus and my focus will determine how long we will either experience hope or desperation. My humble encouragement...focus on God! It's His day! Let's see what He can do with it through each of us. Then the battle of life will not be ours alone to face...it is His. Frankly, I'd rather be on God's side than any other!
