Ok - it is the first day of classes at APU. I'm diving in as rabbi, lecturer, teacher, coach, friend, pastor, brother in Jesus, and fellow traveler with about 75 students. We're diving into Romans and Galatians for a semester. Tell you the truth, it doesn't get much better than this! The only hestitation...that passage in the New Testament about teachers being held in higher levels of accountability. Oh well...bring on the heresy as far as I'm concerned. I love it when I have students look at me like I'm crazy. Of course, I am...so that's the end of that discussion! Oh yeah...here we go! Can't wait to persecute some students this semester. Truthfully though, my task is to light the fire of revolution under them...to see the Spirit ignite their hearts for more than cognition and to fan the flames of difference making in the world. Modernity tore down the proven teaching value of character formation...it is time to reclaim not only good scholarship but the goal of changed lives. So, off to classes!
