Well, my boy (actually, young man @ 22 years old) is trading in his $20K worth of tools, master technician training and $60K salary as a BMW tech for an igloo this week. Call him crazy but it's a God-thing. Let me explain...Aaron has been moved by the Spirit of God to expand the Kingdom in his heart and life. A few months back he started blogging on the fact that he felt like he wasn't having the opportunity to take all the gifts God had given him for a spin. There were gifts that were lying dormant and there was a world and culture that was bigger than what he saw in the shop at Irvine BMW. After some intense conversation and prayer, Aaron decided to see what the Lord is actually trying to do and say to him in and through his life. He gave his notice at the dealership...put his tools in our storage shed...and is now moving to Thunder Bay Canada for a year's worth of ministry at Redwood Church with my buddy and fellow subversive Nate Barnes. Going from making "stupid cash" to about $300 bucks (Canadian bucks, that is) a month as a youth ministry intern will be a huge adjustment...a bigger adjustment is being without his family, friends and SoCal lifestyle. Hey, we're talking beach, warmth and sunshine fellas. The picture above is just one example of the type of home that awaits him in the great nation of Canada. We couldn't be more proud of him...his mom and I are so excited to see what God is going to do with this year. Will he come home speaking Canadian? Will he end every sentence with an "eh"? Will he grow blubber under his skin to insulate him from the cold? Will he suddenly become a political liberal and side with the French? Seriously, God is up to something. But if you think about it, that's the way revolutionaries are formed. Oh that we would all be able to go when God said "go". Aaron, take a warm blanket, know your family loves you, and kick butt for the Kingdom!

COMMENT-BODY:Yeah, verily I say unto thee, the God of Abraham lives even in the northernest parts.
He moves, dances and breathes life still, even here, and we're very excited to see your son join the team, Robin.

COMMENT-BODY:It was nice to meet both of you today. Blogging makes the world seem small. I'll teach Aaron how to build quincies, I'll over emphasize my ehs around him, and all that jazz.
Great to have more introverts on staff. ;)
Brian.

COMMENT-BODY:Hey Robin! Just wanted to say that it's awesome to have some of California up here. God also seems to like to do some pretty awesome things up here too, so it'll be great to see Aaron become a part of that.
Christine
ps: we took Aaron to Seattle Coffee House for the first time today, step one in getting him hooked :)
